This was beautiful. It was sad and painful. It was scary. And it was hopeful.
I played the game over three days (didn’t find the time to play in one session) on a recommendation by Abbie, and I had no clue what expected me. The story was soooo good. The music was fitting so well and created such a great atmosphere. I loved how you contrasted the fear and self-doubt with encouragement. She was facing so much, and it never felt like she could overcome these things easily—if at all. But still she faced them. That was such a powerful motive. There were so many strong lines in here. The pixel art helped so much, with creating the atmosphere. The moments you switched from full screen to in-game view worked really well. I was afraid I might become stuck at some moments, but the game always led me to were it wanted me to go. So being stuck never was an issue. (I did seem to skip the credits somehow it seems >.>)
Thanks, this was a really touching experience.
I'm speechless. This game struck me to my core, and I don't even know how to articulate my feelings. The pacing was incredible. I wanted to learn more about what was happening. By the end, you could piece together most of the truth, but hearing it so directly was just so emotionally devastating. I also loved the formatting. It was a lot more visual novel than most rpgs which was definitely necessary to fully develop the story. But having to look through the character's childhood places really made the theme of remembrance and resurfacing stand out.
The shadow is still creeping behind her when she wakes up. It can't leave her, and moving won't fix it, but it's a start. She's filled with despair, and yet there's hope because she acknowledged the shadow. There's so much more I could say but I think it's best if I just let the story settle. Just...wow this was really good
This will only be here for a short time until I delte both this message and this sorry: I had alot of fun playing this game and the horror with designs were really creepy which gave me the chills, although I wish we got more with the young boy he did what he was used for in the story quite well and one other thing is It might have just been me but I thought the point and click aspect was a little under utilised with only the honeysuckle really using it. Time for atleast something good to end on a good note is I love how very few colours were used to create an excellent atmosphere and really set the story and its vibe in. The sounds from cicadas and others gave me a bit f whiplash as I didn't expect that some voice acting would be in there so I ruinded the moment a bit. Also the music was also very good at setting the vibe in and was quite accurate to the areas in which it was used. But other than that and me being a bit picky about what I liked less, I've tried to keep the major story plots out so as if you do go and play you can truly experience it yourself so have a good day or night and goodbye.
Thank you for sharing this
Thank you so much for playing and streaming it!
What a beautiful game! Both poignant and visually stunning! The horror elements are creepy, and tied in really well to a deeply personal story that felt both hopeful and uncomfortable because of how personal it was. The sound design was also excellent, and I loved the botany and details of local fauna! So well-produced that I'm in awe at the fact the version I played was the jam version! Cannot wait to see more from CicadaQueen and other members of WSIO's team!
fantastic game.
I got slowly invested in the story by how you paced it. There were a lot of parts that made me feel uncomfortable and which felt very personal and to which I could relate to an extend. Absolutely loved the writing. Keep it up, I'm looking forward to your next games!
It feels like a direct glimpse into someone else's mind, deeply uncomfortable inner debates about identity and what to let go of made real, and then brutal recounts of abuse. AsterVrisk's soundtrack nails its hazy, dreamlike atmosphere.
I've definitely had a quieter and easier life than the protagonist but some of the situations portrayed hit very close to home for me. I personally really appreciated the protagonist's commentary on the insects and flora in the outdoor segments, it made me feel like I was there with her.
Incredible game.
I approach this game not knowing what to expect and I thought the story writing was good. The soundtrack during the revisiting the main character's past matched with the psychological horror... Overall, I enjoyed this game.
that was truly an experience, played this game while sharing my screen doing *most* of the voice acting and at one point we both js went silent (besides my voice acting) and tbh at the end i straight up just felt like I WAS the main character (also im depressed now)
This was an amazingly well written story, tragic and horrific immersing me completely to their feelings..!
Seeing the same flower in the final confrontation scene that was pevious shown with a trick how to easily open it and drink the little nectar of it really brought the narative together.
Really impressive work and holy fuck I am so sorry for what happened to you. Thanks for turning it into art to share with us.
Thank you so much for playing the game, I'm glad you liked it and saw some of the symbolism with the flowers. :>
This was intense and vivid and so beautiful!! I was moved so much by the poetry of the writing and the slow build of chaos and pain in the art. The way things felt grounded at first and then got more and more unstable and scary as the game progressed really captured that cornered panicked feeling when you know what it's like to be powerless and trapped.
Spoilers for anyone reading :
I feel like it really captured the dichotomy of choosing to leave for your own safety but the pain of being forced to leave. It will be better for you, but the pain and frustration and unfairness of that will always, always be there. It's not your fault you have to leave, just as it's not your fault you were hurt by people supposed to take care of you. But the pain of both will never stop haunting you.
And I talk about this a little at the very end but I was very struck by the different versions of herself she sees throughout the game. The way the story makes a point to say that all of your versions of yourself are valid and the visual way those different versions were captured. A little kid, not knowing why everything feels wrong. A forgotten corpse, not know as who they truly are by all who remember them. And the kind shadow on the fuzzy screen - a concept so foreign to her it's like she can't even really see it. She can't picture herself being that person, being confident and able to self soothe.
Glad I played it and looking forward to more of what you create in the future! Really, really beautiful. Very heavy haha. Gonna sit heavy on the brain the next few days, I'm sure.
While not outright 'scary' in the most conventional sense; the dread baked into every fiber of this experience is far more harrowing. It speaks to distinctly real and unfortunate pains, and even if you yourself as a player haven't had to experience what the character in game has gone through, the presentation brings you eerily close to being put right into the shoes of someone who has.
The surreal atmosphere in place heightens these sensations, as do the crumbs of warmth and enjoyment the character has scattered throughout some of the earlier sequences; as both make the pit in your stomach that much deeper when left to face the real horrors this story presents, no less authentic despite how fantastical the visuals associated with their delivery are.
I'd speak more about what impressed me, but I would rather those reading the comment grasp these elements directly too, more than I've already spoken on them at least. All of that to say; stellar work on this project and thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you so much for the kind words and enjoying my game <3
i didn't expect to be sobbing at different scenes of the game. it hit too close to home :(
;(
Lots of hugs friend.
Very good game

My pleasure
One of my favorite things! Utterly engrossing, visually stunning, and musically incredible.
Thank you for playing!
I wish I had the words to articulate how resonant and powerful of a story this is, but it is just so incredible in so many ways!
Thank you so much for playing it! I'm glad it resonated with you <3
great jobs
Thank you so much! And thank you for playing it and uploading a video of it on your channel!

This was an amazing, horrifying, beautiful and viscerally painful game. It showed me the wonders of nature and companionship but also the ugliness and depravity of humanity. I entered thinking the story would be about the protagonist mourning loss... and I was right but not in the way I expected.
Everything started clicking when she spoke to the boy at the park. This is a story about childhood memories tainted by betrayal. This is a story about letting go of a home haunted by the living. This is a story about existential dread and loneliness. This is a story about facing illogical, systematic hatred and cruelty. This is a story about trying to overcome all your trauma and learning to live without shame of who you are.
It's ironic; Winter is the season associated with death and endings, Spring is for rebirth and new beginnings. But this? This is the end of Summer. And it hurt worse than any heat wave. But it wasn't pain from senseless violence. It was a love letter to everyone who has ever suffered from these self-doubts and injustices. Thank you for creating this masterpiece.
I had to sit with your comment for a while... I never imagined someone would so concisely be able to put into words my intentions when I made this game. But you really hit the nail on the head...
There are some other minor themes and threads woven throughout the game that I feel tie in, but also they're simply things I feel an affinity with.
I'm so glad this game resonated with you so deeply. And... I'm also so sorry.
To me, the seasons have always felt off and mismatched... I always saw Spring and Summer as where things go to die... When things rot and decay, when it's too hot to be comfortable with yourself. When that stifling, muggy air carried the scent of festering carrion, even though so many living things needed and loved the Spring and Summer.
I wish I could say more to indicate how much your comment meant to me, but I think I'm getting a bit too introspective for this early in the morning. Nonetheless, thank you so much for playing my game and thank you for the kind words.
I logged in for the first time in years literally just to comment. This was really moving, and I saw apart of myself in this story. I hope to continue to get to see projects from you :)
Thank you so much for playing and coming on here to leave a comment! It means so much to me that you saw a part of yourself in this project... From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Seeing the protagonist going through a metaphorical journey of her fears was very sad.
I liked how those aspects of her character were conveyed through the narrative,
The visual presentation was also great in my book.
The animated cutscenes and CGs also contributed significantly to that aspect.
Their dynamism helped to make certain scenes more impactful and memorable,
These ended up becoming my favorite part of the whole game as well because of that.
Thank you so much for playing, and the kind words. It means a lot to me to see such a personal project resonate with others!
